Good Morning!
(9:00am) - I hope all of you had a great weekend! The Gators trounced the Volunteers 59-20; the Dolphins, though, lost to the Cowboys 37-20. Kevin Harvick had some troubles in NASCAR (so what else is new???) and ended up only 17th in the first race of the 2007 Chase for the Cup
Also - yesterday afternoon was fantastic: I went to my niece's baby shower. Usually that's a females-only sort of thing, but for Brenda it was a chance to have a big family gathering. 45 people were invited and I believe nearly all of them showed up ... I met a lot of folks in the family on the baby's father's side of the family. Great bunch of down-home, South Carolina country folks I'm glad to have associated with my family.
Oh ... and the food (God!) ... it was awesome! Pulled pork sandwiches, home made BBQ sauce, foot-long hot dogs, macaroni salad and potato salad to die for, mac and cheese ... I ate so much I had to go lay down. It caused me back problems.
Well, anyway ... I hope you had a great weekend, too.
Namaste!

First Thoughts - #1
(11:45pm) - Radikal!
Here is the article. It's a review of the book The Stillborn God by Matthew Lilla. This is its first thought:
"Let people freely and rationally pursue physics, and eventually they’d draw the conclusion that the Earth moves. Let people freely and rationally think about how best to organize human society — with a view toward diminishing turmoil and augmenting the realization of individual potential — and eventually they’d separate church and state."
As a bonus ... here's a final thought from the article:
"Separating church and state works; mixing them tends toward disaster."
I'm not telling you if this final thought is from the book, or a rebuttal....
Regarding "Final Thoughts": I'm going to make this a regular thing - you may have to subscribe to the websites where the articles are found ... :)
"Food Lion Auto Fair" This weekend
(6:15pm) - Gonna try to get to this ... If I can work it in to my football-scheduled weekend :)
"Pretend to be a Time-traveller" Day
(6:00pm) - This is hilarious ... I just don't have the courage to act this silly! Sure would be funny, though.... If you did that at Dragon*Con, everyone would just think you're in costume :)
Found on the boards at "koalawallop.com," thanks yet again to the brilliant minds at SiliconValley.com.

#1 is me ...
(6:31pm) - Found a good article I need to take to heart ... eventually: Overcoming nine barriers to exercise
Numbers 1, 2, 3, 5, and sometimes 6 are my pitfalls.
Call me "Mr. Bad Attitude" ... I just hate to exercise - it hurts!!
From the files, under "RAGE"
(11:15pm) - News story from http://www.siliconvalley.com/:
"You always suspected this sort of thing happened, but columnist Dean Takahashi has the evidence sitting on his desk -- more than 1,300 unopened rebate requests found in a dumpster near the San Jose tech company to which they were addressed."
The article is a good one, explaining why it happened (small, unprepared company) and why rebates are B-A-D news all around....

Dragon*Con was a blast :)
(6:15pm) - I'm worn out but happy ... had a fantastic time at this year's D*C. Don't know if I'm up to writing a summary of what I did and what happened. Just ask if you're interested.
Now this guy is an *artist*
(6:20pm) - You'll be stunned. You'll be overawed. You'll be downright flabbergasted! Here's a guy who carves sculptures tinier than a single grain of rice. The beating of a *fly's* wings once caused him to lose a month's work.
I kid you not: click here. The photos alone are worth the ride.
