Great Thursday - going to DC this weekend (see my schedule) and I'm really looking forward to seeing everybody. It's kind of a family reunion too, but more "family friends" than just family.
:: cue sappy violin music ::
I don't know who all is going to be there, but in a way, it'll be like re-establishing contact with long-lost friends & family. It's going to be more fun than a barrel of monkeys, I get a brand-new business suit out of the deal, and I'm taking two days off work. A well-earned vacation ... :)

Work-life sucks again: I got written up for a dumb mistake. It's my own damn fault, but a *mistake* nevertheless; I made more than a legitimate good-faith effort to verify the information and therefore made a judgement call that said info was legitimate.
However, I should have known that *it is neither my nor my company's position to make any judgements whatsoever about content* ... and therefore should have treated it as illegitimate. It was part of my training, and was, in fact, mentioned to me directly (but as a result of a different situation entirely) by the Legal team.
As I said, my own fault entirely X-( ...

HOO-WHEE !!!
Crazy wild wonderful day today. Started out in the dumper but got much better. SVdP-wise, I've had two big deals hanging over my head: membership recruitment in our parish, and this year's Christmas Angel prorgram. In the space of 45 minutes this morning, I resolved both of them.
- Membership Recruitment: Henry will take this position. It's very easy - he'll receive the monthly list sent out by the parish office indicating new interested folks. He'll call them and then hand them off to Paty who will conduct a simple, quick introduction to what we do. In short, once a month he'll make 3 or 4 phone calls, then do some quick follow-up with Paty.
- Christmas Angel: On Tuesday evening next week, Felix and I will meet with Greg at the church to discuss incorporating Greg's organizational methodology into the Christmas Angel program. That way, we'll be able to grow the program.
How cool is all that? I had to steady myself after those calls: maybe my natural pessimism really is the wrong way to look at life. That would be a real attitude adjustment ...

Personally, I'm really looking forward to this weekend's trip to DC. Heather's been working on this, I hear, for a long, long time. Therefore, I'm predicting a pretty posh affair with a HUGE spread :)
If I'm right ... it's going to be a culinary masterpiece to be remembered for YEARS .... !!!

I was off work yesterday for a pair of doctor's appointments. The first was to my GP, Dr. Kim - my blood pressure was only 102/70 so considering that, as well as three months ago my cholesterol count was only 165, he opted not to have bloodwork done. Yes, I'm healthy! He prescribed refills for the cholesterol medication I'm taking, Caduet and Tricor.
What's interesting is that he recommended a deep tissue massage because of a very tight mass of muscle just to the right of my left shoulder blade in my back..... sometimes, it even radiates pain down by left arm, but thankfully that's only happened twice in the last month, and the arm pain went away as the day went on and the muscles loosened up a bit.
My second appointment was with Dr. Eaton, my pulmonologist, who's been treating my sleep apnea and nighttime breating problems due to stuffy sinuses. I got a prescription for Astalin (a non-steroidal nasal spray) and a refill prescription for Zyrtec. I take both at night an hour or so before going to bed.

Next weekend I'm going up to the DC area with my folks. I'm taking Friday the 28th and Monday the 31st off work to go -- it's Betsy & Clifford's 40th wedding anniversary, and their daughter, Heather, is making it a real big shindig :)

Ya know, I got enough sleep last night and the night before but I've still been extremely exhausted and draggy these last two days. I've been using my CPAP machine religiously. Well, I feel OK right now otherwise, so we'll just see what happens. I'm not worried or otherwise concerned about anything health-wise. I feel GREAT except for the sleepiness :) ...
===
I'm leaving straight from work tonight for my parents' house in Charlotte. I work just off the connector, and drove downtown today for just this reason. I'll be on the road by about 4:15pm, and depending on traffic volume, should make Charlotte by 9:00pm.

Check out "My Links" over there on the left ... I added a bunch more. SunTrust, Bank of America, Audible.com, and the Miami Herald Dolphins News page.

If you haven't yet ... Please read the "What is Tao?" article. You may get as much out of it philosophically as I have.
Taoism has been a big help to me by ratcheting down my worry factor and teaching me how to *truly* just go with the flow. I intend to live at least until I'm 134 (through the entirety of this century), and I won't come close to doing so if I'm worried and stressed at the levels I have been in the past.

Phew ... heckuva busy week again. Unfortunately, I didn't write down everything I did and so it's all a big blur in retrospect. In a few minutes I will be updating my schedule, so mayhap I will recall some of it then.
Also, I'm making a change to make it easier for me to keep this page current, so I don't go over a week any more without updating things. I'm going to start keeping an entire month's worth of updates here on this page, rather than copying the old one to an Archives page and starting brand new here.
===
I'm going back to my folks' new Charlotte, NC house this weekend. It's actually not a lake house as I previously thought; it's on the southern fork of the Catawba River, actually.
I will pack tonight so I can leave straight from work tomorrow !! Mom needs some help setting up her computer to fight spyware and viruses (I'll install Ad-aware, Spybot, and Windows Defender). Becca & James are going to be out of town on Saturday for a wedding in Greenville, SC but will be back Saturday night so I can see them too on Sunday for a little bit.

I created a list of my Top 100 favorite songs of all time. I posted it for your reading enjoyment (and likely amusement) right here. It's very heavy on peppy/zippy bubble-gum pop, but I do have some classic rock represented. It's a work in progress, and will go on my new iPod (whenever I happen to buy it) ...
